Winemaking Notes
This seven acre block of Syrah, of the Syrah Noir clone, was planted in 1998, making it one of the older vineyards in High Valley Appellation. This vineyard has always been the backbone of the Syrah program at Brassfield Estate from our inception, and has garnered numerous competition awards and accolades over the previous two vintages. The vineyard, with its steep slope and northern exposure, is at the foot of our very own Round Mountain volcano.
Tasting Notes
The 2004 Round Mountain Syrah shows incredibly dark color, and true to the varietal, has initial earth and gamey aromas followed by concentrated dark plum and blackberry fruit. This massive bodied wine is not shy on structure or the tannins that follow.
