Citrus oil, ripe apricot, Golden Delicious apple, and nectarine are framed by fresh floral
notes on the nose of this very aromatic wine. Sweet, yet balanced by a zesty finish this is
a go to wine for fruity desserts, or Crème Brûlée.
The Volcano Ridge Vineyard is located on the steep slopes of an extinct cinder cone
volcano at 2000-2200 feet above sea level. The pure volcanic soils, or “tephra”, are
extremely well-drained and are ideal for vine stress and restricting crop yields resulting
in concentrated and complex wines. Muscat happens to be one of the oldest grape
varietals in the world, with over 2,000 years of existence. There are easily over 200
clones of Muscat and ours is the exotic Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains.
At Brassfield Estate, our winemaking emphasizes quality and the use of traditional handcrafted
techniques, which creates wines that have both power and finesse. The Muscat
grapes were harvested in the early morning, so they arrived to the winery cold and were
processed using minimal handling. After a gentle pressing, the juice underwent a slow, cool
fermentation in stainless steel tanks. We cut off the fermentation a little early to balance out
the sugar to acid ratio, offering a delicious and refreshing example of this historic varietal.
