The 2019 Viognier is rich and velvety with delicious ripe stone fruit aromas of peach and pear. Creamy vanilla and honey notes grace the palate along with a touch of integrated oak and minerality, leading to a smooth and creamy finish.
This wine is a blend of two vineyards. Seventy five percent of the fruit is sourced from the floor of High Valley at 1,800 feet. elevation and the remainder are grown at our perspective vineyard at nearly 3,000 feet elevation. Here the bright sun and unrelenting winds dance across this exposed knoll, with the grapes' only respite being the amazing view of Clearlake below. The grapes are pressed and the juice is fermented at a cold temperature in stainless steel tanks before being transferred to small stainless steel barrels and aging on the lees. The finished wine was lightly fined and filtered.
These grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness and flavor, pressed, and fermented cold in stainless steel tanks. The resulting wine is then Sur Lie aged in a combination of French Oak and small stainless steel vessels for 6 month to increase mouthfeel and body. The finished wine is racked clean, lightly fined, and filtered before bottling.
