Our 2021 Petite Sirah wine is far from Petite. Highly focused and concentrated on the
palate, it has ample silky tannins that highlight the rich flavors of blackberry jam, dark
plum and cigar box. Full bodied and generous, it finishes with a textured and slightly
warming finish.
Vineyard Notes
2250ft. above sea level, Rattlesnake Ridge Vineyard, true to its name, weaves its way
along the southwestern slopes of Brassfield Estate. This winding ridge is comprised of
broken shale, characteristic of the Franciscan Formation, with a light dusting of red
volcanic soil. The combination of elevation and unique soil composition creates a
microclimate that stresses the vines, limiting grape yields. These growing conditions
translate into a focused wine with concentrated and intense varietal fruit characteristics.

Winemaker Notes
Here at Brassfield Estate, our winemaking emphasizes quality and the use of traditional
handcrafted techniques, which create wines that have both power and finesse. We
harvested our 2021 Petite Sirah in the early morning. We then crushed and transferred
the fruit to stainless tanks for fermentation. We used twice daily pump-overs to keep
fermentation healthy. The wine was then barreled down to undergo malolactic
fermentation in our extensive wine caves. To showcase the fruit and structure of this
wine, it was aged in 10% new American oak and 90% neutral oak barrels for 22 months.
We stirred the wine monthly on its lees to achieve body and texture. This wine was lightly
fined and bottled without filtration.
