Mix all ingredients together until just combined. Do not overwork the meat or the burgers might be tough.
Shape into 4 equal-sized patties, use your thumb to make an indent in the center of each patty.
Grill over medium-high heat for 2-4 minutes per side, until internal temperature reaches 160 degrees.
Step 4 (Optional)
If adding cheese, lay slices of cheese over the burgers in the last 1-2 minutes of cooking.
Serve on a bun with more BBQ sauce and other desired toppings.
