A romantic perfume of strawberries, watermelons, and gardenia blossoms leads to a layered palate of tangerine, lime, and grapefruit. The slightly honeyed finish leaves a lingering zesty acidity. Light, crisp, and savory all at once.
Vineyard Notes
Fruit for our Rosé is sourced primarily from our Volcano Ridge Vineyard. At 2,000-2,200 feet above sea level, this vineyard is located on the steep slopes of an extinct volcano cinder cone known as Round Mountain. The pure volcanic soils, or “tephra”, are extremely well-drained and are ideal for vine balance and restricting crop yields, resulting in concentrated and complex wines with opulent fruit flavors. A small percentage of grapes are harvested from the High Serenity Ranch site we call La Loma for added complexity.
Winemaker Notes
A purpose-built wine with no intentions other than shear hedonism and versatility, our Rosé is born from the traditions of Provence and infused with an American spirit of manifest destiny. We harvest the fruit for this wine early enough to keep a decent amount of natural acidity and balanced bright berry flavors, yet ripe enough to cruise across the landscape of ones' palate. Made via the direct press method, the short skin contact time (less than two hours) yields a lovely pink, salmon-like, color. A touch of sweetness adds to the density and richness of this front porch quaffer. Élevage was performed in stainless steel cooperage.
