Pale salmon in hue, this multifaceted rosé balances the juicy strawberry and raspberry aromas of the Pinot Noir fruit against a subtle suggestion of rose petal. Fruit forward and juicy, yet refreshing on the palate, it finishes with a precise lemon zest acidity and a lingering mouthfeel of
strawberries and cream.
Vineyard Notes
Our home ranch on the west side of the High Valley AVA has been known as “High Serenity Ranch” for over one hundred years. The blocks planted on this idyllic site include Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, and Gewurztraminer. Each block is comprised of the ancient lakebed and alluvial soils from the surrounding mountain range. The transverse
valley winds create some of the coolest sites in Lake County. The lower temperatures on the valley floor allow for diurnal temperature swings of more than forty degrees, enhancing flavor development while retaining a crisp acidity.
Winemaker Notes
We pick these Pinot Noir grapes exclusively for Rosé, at lower sugar levels, which translates into brighter flavors and a balanced body. After a gentle pressing, we allowed the juice to cold settle overnight, which creates the delicate color we love to see in our Rosé. The next day we racked the
juice off heavy lees and fermented it in small stainless-steel tanks. Sur-lie aging with battonage (lees stirring) once a week in tank creates additional body, texture, and viscosity in the wine. This wine was aged for six months, lightly fined, and filtered before bottling for maximum freshness and clarity.
